Hello Parents! My name is Chris Edwards and I am the new PE teacher at La Promesa Elementary School. I recently attended Emory and Henry College and received my undergraduate degree in Health and Human Performance. While in college, I was apart of the Emory and Henry Football team and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I have a true and deep passion for athletics and children, which made it a natural fit for me to pursue a career as an educator. My goal as the Physical Education teacher at La Promesa is to motivate and inspire my students to achieve lifetime goals of physical wellness and fitness. Also, the students will cooperate in many activities that involve teamwork, goal setting and sportsmanship. At the end of each school year, my goal for each and every student I have is for them to have experienced a fun, enjoyable PE curriculum that was challenging, but also enjoyable at the same time.

Febuary Physical Education
Hello La Promesa parents! For the month of February, the students are currently going through a hockey unit plan. During this unit, my first goal is to teach the students the basic rules of the game of hockey! We will then move on to the proper way to hold a hockey stick. After that, we will dive right in to puck handling skills, passing, shooting and defense. Safety is my primary concern so I will make sure that each student knows the proper rules and procedure of the game of hockey. Along with hockey, we are constantly working on our core and upper body strength. Encourage your students to do pushups and situps while at home! each student has so much athletic potential!

March Physical Education
After finishing up Hockey, we are now starting to work on the basic fundamentals of baseball/teeball. In order to be an effective baseball player, you first need to learn how to swing a baseball bat. For the first part of the month, we will be learning the proper technique of an effective baseball swing which can take some time to master for younger learners. Next comes making contact with the ball. We will practice swinging through the nerf ball making proper contact while keeping your eye on the target. Along with baseball, we are continuing to work on proper running form, balance, coordination and upper body/core strength! Keep encouraging your talented children!
April Physical Education
For the month of April, we are currently working on an Ultimate Frisbee unit. The students will learn the rules of Ultimate Frisbee, as well as the proper throwing technique of the backhand, forehand, and hammer throw
